What is robotic surgery
Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery offered through our surgery program. Much like we rely on GPS to help us get to a destination, robotic-assisted capabilities map out precise positioning for the procedure, according to each person’s unique anatomy.
Robotic surgical systems allow a surgeon's hand motions to be translated into smaller, more precise movements with tiny instruments. One of these tools is a laparoscope, which is a small tube with a tiny camera and light at the end that allows surgeons to track all movements through a video monitor.
Studies show that physician-directed robotic surgery can result in reduced postoperative pain and aid in faster recoveries, allowing patients to return more rapidly to daily activities, compared to open surgeries.
