Dr. Lawrence A. Snetman returns to the Aventura Hospital medical staff and the Comprehensive Cancer Center after spending the last few years in North Carolina. He has more than 30 years experience caring for patients in the dual specialties of medical oncology and hematology.
Dr. Snetman earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and completed his postgraduate internship, residency, and sub-specialty fellowship training at the University of Miami Combined Hospitals System.
Dr. Snetman is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American College of Angiology.
Dr. Snetman has served on the voluntary faculties of both Nova Southeastern University and the University of Miami, and was an original Affiliate Member of the Center for Blood Diseases of the University of Miami. He has been awarded the Physicians' Recognition Award on multiple occasions by the American Medical Association, and he was selected as one of America's Top Physicians by the Consumer Research Council.
Dr. Snetman is frequently sought for both professional and community presentations on current topics of interest in his field. He has published a World Literature Review of Hodgkin's Disease, and participated as a co-investigator in the investigation of plasmapheresis as a treatment for hereditary hyperlipidemia.
Dr. Snetman is now the principal physician at the Aventura Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is striving to make the Center the pre-eminent treatment facility in the area, dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic and neoplastic diseases. He has a special interest in hereditary cancer and counseling patients and their families.
